Fiber first, before anything wet touches it
A rug is not a small piece of carpet. Wool and other natural fibers, synthetics, and hand-knotted Oriental and Persian rugs each take water, heat and cleaning products differently, so the first job is knowing which one is on your floor.
Before we clean, we assess the fringe, the backing and the dye. The fringe tells us how the rug was made and how much wear it has seen. The backing shows whether it can take a full wash. Dye is checked so a color does not travel into the field of a rug you chose for exactly that color.
That assessment is why we say it plainly on every service page: we confirm the exact treatment after assessing your surfaces. For a rug that treatment can be different from the room around it, even when the two are the same beige.

On site, or at the Rug Spa
Some rugs are cleaned where they lie, on site, with the same truck-mounted equipment we bring for carpet. Others do better at our Rug Spa, where the rug can be worked off the floor.
There are two ways to get a rug to the Rug Spa. We can pick it up and deliver it back for a distance-based fee, or you can drop it off in Orange, CA by appointment. Plan on about a week, and up to about two weeks, before the rug is back.
If you are not sure which route suits a particular rug, mention it when you book. A rug with fragile fringe, or one that has been in the family for decades, often belongs at the Rug Spa. A synthetic runner in the hallway usually does not need to leave the house.
What cleaning can and cannot undo
Cleaning lifts soil, odor and the dullness that builds up in the pile. It does not rebuild what the rug has lost. Wear, fading and dye loss cannot be reversed by cleaning, and stain removal cannot be guaranteed. We would rather tell you that at the assessment than after the invoice.
What we do guarantee is the work. The Every Inch guarantee means that if you are not happy, we make it right immediately and return to readdress the areas of concern at no additional charge. If our work ever causes damage, we repair or replace it, and if you are not completely satisfied, we issue a complete refund.
Every OCD HOME appointment carries a $250 job minimum, so a rug is easiest to book alongside the carpet, upholstery or tile you were already planning to have done. You see the price when you book online.
